OSCaR in Myanmar: Providing Technical Support for like-minded organisations

In late March, two of CIF’s staff members travelled to Yangon, Myanmar, to provide training to two organisations on how to use OSCaR. Project Manager Sam Ol, and Chris, the Social Work Technical Adviser, spent three days with staff from Kinnected and from Compasio. The organisations work with vulnerable children in Myanmar and along the Thai border, and both have begun integrating the OSCaR system into their practice.

Training with the organisations was intense, and Sam Ol and Chris spent two days working with the social workers to teach them how to manage client information in the system. Following this, they supported the managers of the organisations to customize the system to their organisation’s needs. By the end of the three days though, staff were understanding the system, working on it independently with confidence. And most importantly, they could see how OSCaR could benefit their clients and their organisations.

Philip from Kinnected was very positive about the visit, saying, “Before, I couldn’t see how we were going to make the system work. But now it’s very clear, I can see a way forward. It’s a very powerful tool, and I’m quite excited about it now!”

Of course, one of the benefits of work travel is getting to see new places, which Sam Ol and Chris took advantage of in the evenings. Both of them are keen photographers, so enjoy a few photos of beautiful Yangon, as well as some shots of the training itself.
